This trendy home was once a cement factory. The abandoned cement factory was discovered in 1973 and converted to this upscale home by architect Ricardo Bofill. The renovation took two years. The home contains various plants including cypresses, olive trees, palms, and eucalyptus. It serves as Bofillo’s apartment, exhibition space, model laboratory, archives, and architectural office. His renovation included exposing previously concealed structures, cleaning cement and demolishing some structures.

Louis Mantin was a French gentleman who at the age of 42 inherited a fortune from his father and thenceforth dedicated his life to pleasure, science and the arts. He died in 1905 and his last wish in the testament was that his house should stay sealed 100 years and be reopened as a museum. The mansion was closed up and fell into dilapidation. Now thanks to a 3.5m euro ($4.7m) refit funded by local authorities, it has been returned to its original pristine state. Here are several photos of that remarkable time-capsule.

These are some amazing and interesting staircases. They are all very modern looking and very geometric. Some look like optical illusions. They are all quite unique and very creative. They make it interesting to go upstairs.

Some kids have everything. Certainly the kids that own these playhouses have the best of everything. They are better decorated that most people’s homes. Some even have real kitchen and fireplaces. The probably cost as much as most people’s homes as well.
